Peets announced a line of bottled iced tea available in six varieties and crafted from green, oolong, white and black teas. Five of the six contain natural flavors; Little Dragon Peach, Moroccan Mint, Jade Green Lime, Summer House Citrus and Snow Leopard with Honey to enhance the unique flavor of the base tea. These teas are all natural and lightly sweetened and include an unsweetened version Summer House Classic.
The market for iced tea has grown about 15 percent over the last several years as cold tea is the primary way in which people drink teas in the US according to Chris Lansing the VP/GM of Peet’s.
True to their high quality methods and unlike other bottled ice teas, Peet’s uses high quality whole leaf teas from around the world instead of powdered tea leaves. This is not a “tea soda” that are typically sugary or artificially flavored said Lansing.
Peet’s founder, Alfred Peet, started in the tea business before entering the realm of the coffee world he excelled at. Unfortunately he is not around to enjoy this latest venture as he passed away in 2007.
The bottles are distinctively shaped 15 oz glass available at 25 Peet’s outlets in Northern California, Raley’s, Bel Air, Nob Hill and Nugget Markets grocery stores in California and Nevada as well as select Whole Foods. Costco in Northern California also carries them.
